Rental House With A Swimming Pool

I have rental properties but with no swimming pools. I am thinking to buy another one. Some of good houses have swimming pools. Should I avoid them? Besides paying additionally for maintenance, it is an extra liability. Does anybody have experience with that? Thanks.

i wouldnt buy a rental w a swimming pool. too much maintenance and insurance probs. There are hundreds of established condos operations that would love to shut down their pool...really would love to do it.

Now if you find one with a nice sized hot tub...you may get my interest

I specifically put in ALL of my lease agreements that my tenants are not to have any pools, playground equipment of any kind, ect.. In Ohio where I am, a neighbor kid snuck his way across a fence into his neighbors yard and ended up drowning. The homeowners got sued bad and lost everything. If I bought a rental that came with a pool, I get rid of it before I had someone in there. The risk is not worth it.

Rglover548 and OCH, thanks for your replies. No house with swimming pool!

Rglover548, I will buy a house with hot tub if you relocate from Los Angeles to rent itgrin

If I lived in California (or alot of the West), I would want a house with a metal roof. Metal roofs do not burn, and they last almost forever. I have seen metal roofs 100 years old. They do take some upkeep, but it is still much cheaper than putting a new roof on every 15-20 years.
