Private Messages
What is the restriction on the private messages? Mine now goes to subscription page when I try to access it. It there a limit per day, week, month, year? Do I ever get access to it again? Does it reset or do I have to buy a subscription to read my messages?
P.S. Why not buy a subscription and support the site? With a thousand posts, you certainly must recognize the value! I think Joel deserves a little payback for what he has provided us...

Thanks for the help Chris. I would support with a subscription, but to be honest $10 per month is too high. My high speed internet is $10 a month. Yes, I am frugal. I support the site with my input I guess. [ Edited by d_random on Date 02/01/2008 ]
I would be glad to made a donation to the site though, if the owners put up a paypal button or something.
This is stupid.... And way too greedy....
I get messages and cant see them becasue someone wants 9.99 a month however are they paying me to write and attract viewers?
So one sided
I hope propbot takes off so Joel can make this a totally free site.
This is the only forum I am aware of that cost money and the site is selling advertising space afterall.
There are some sites that dont even have advertsing and still dont charge.
And if you look at the alexa ratings it appears as though viewers dont like a pay site..
But I know he has thought long and hard about his dicission. Just crappy that a member who thinks they sent me a message which I cant reply to now may think I am not replying because thye dont know that their message cant be read..
O well...
Can you get the E-mail? Frankly, I get a ton of private messages and every single one of them is the same: "So-and-so added you to their favorites list." Every real communication I have gotten has come through the E-mail system.
By the way you are not necessarily notified when you get an E-mail, so it is a good idea to check once in a while...

Everyone can receive unlimited amount of Private Messages, but we only limit to 5/month with a free account.
It goes up to 50 sent messages/month with the first paid account.
Thanks for info Joel, so with a free account you can just SEND 5 messages a month? Because after I send, I guess over 5 PMs, I cannot read the PMs either. It automatically goes to a subscription page.

And we have opened up searching for members in the members area as well for free.
It is now a month later and the search is still not available to members with less than a silver access subscription.
