Primary Residence IRS Definition For Purpose Of Getting Mortgage Credit Certificate

I am purchasing a home. There is a question about my qualifying for a mortgage credit certificate because one rule states that you may not have owned a primary residence within the past 3 years. I moved out of my home due to divorce (husband kept home) 3 years ago. However, divorce was settled 2 years ago. I did not live in the home or receive equity for the year I did not live in the home before settlement. Since it is not where I lived for 3 years, or received benefit from it, how would IRS look at it?
