Preparing A Quit Claim Deed -- Help!
Does this have to be done by a lawyer?
Everyone quit claim deed I have seen has a "prepared by" block, and Im not a lawyer, so I was wondering if I can put my name and address in that section, or does it have to be done by a lawyer.
Thanks!
doesn't have to be done by a lawyer, but for the money, i'd have a lawyer do it.
i had one done about 2 weeks ago. i always have a lawyer i just feel more comfortable. you can do it yourself .....ggod luck.kenmax
Deeds can be prepared by yourself. Be sure to look at the old deed and copy the legal description EXACTLY onto your new deed.
If you've got a good attorney it could save you the headaches if you were to use them.
One of the purposes of the "prepared by" block is so that after recording (usually done with one original for the recorder, one for grantee one for grantor) a copy can be returned for the grantee's files.
I always do my own, but compare VERY closely with the prior deed to make sure that everything matches. If you are not careful, you can create some serious future title issues.
