Pre-Foreclosures PLEASE!!!!

Can anyone help me out and tell me how a investor would go about by finding Pre-Foreclosures. I went to the court house today and man those people looked at me like I had three eyes when I asked where I could abtain information on pertaining to Pre-Foreclosures(Notice of Trustee Sale)
I know there must be a way but I'm having trouble figuring out how.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! cool grin

Locate your county courthouse on line site - they should have almost all of the public records available - set a search with the parameters of LP - Lis Pendens - this is the first stage of foreclosure - this will give you an idea of some possible pre foreclosure properties

They are definately posted publicly, somewhere. Every municipality is different. Some post online, most do not. The newspaper is a good source but it takes a ton of time.

I'd ask around to see if their is some local research service in your area.
If there isn't consider starting one. There is some big money in it if you do it well.

I see my county, Santa Clara, California, posts them online. But, they do not list the addresses.

So, I basically need to go to the court house. Since I do need to that, what do I look for? What do I ask for? I do realize that I am quite new to this, but, I would like to have a *small* clue as to what I need to look for and ask for.

    Thanks
    eric
