Pocono Mountains PA / Good Investment?

Hey does anybody on here know of the REI climate in the poconos? Would this be a good investment? If so, which zip codes should I search in and what's the rent range in peak season in this area? Thanks in advance.

I live in the Poconos and have now for 15 years. I also have been investing here for about 5 years now. What exactly do you want to know? I will help you if I can.

basically I just wanted to know what's the most desirable zip codes to search in and is there enough in season traffic to cover your yearly property expenses.

I don't get into the seasonal rentals here. I don't know much about them other than seeing these properties vacant most of the time. I don't think there is a real big demand for vacation rentals here because they are so many available.
Most Pocono investing is either vacant land(I have had some property double in value in 18 months), rehabbing or spec. home construction. I am not trying to be negative but, everyone and their brother is an "investor" up here. They are crawling out of the woodwork so to speak LOL . Even so, you can still find some good investments here but, take note, the competion is heavy.
I am personally going to try some other, more obscure investing techniques to try and thwart the competition. I wonder if other areas are like this? what's it like in Philly?
On another note I won't be around at all next week as I am going to a foreclosure boot camp in FLA. I am leaving Sunday. I will expand on my comments when I get back. Good luck.

The Poconos have been a great place to invest in recent years; prices have skyrocketed. My crystal ball is a little cloudy so who knows about the future. Commuters have made it a year round area. I used to think of the Poconos as a place to get away from it all. Now it seems more crowded than Allentown; just drive past Marshall's Creek at the flea market on Sunday on Route 209. One thing always puzzled me about the area. Selling houses up there, customers many times asked for properties outside of planned or gated communities, yet many of the houses are in such communities. Why did they build so many gated communities?

We are all going to get busted by the powers that be for not moving our posts to the general help forum. LOL
