Hey
Has anyone here ever tried finishing and painting paneling, sorta like u do drywall? I was thinking of spraying on a texture onto the paneling but dont know if it will hold like it does on the drywall. Any ideas?
what type of paneling? waynes coating (spelling?), plywood? laminate wood?
I've never personally done anything like that, nor have I seen it done before.
What about putting just a thin layer of drywall over it and then texture?
If it has a texture/pattern (hard to explain, like wood paneling usually does) i'd say its going to be tough, you'd have to skim coat the walls, and I don't know how well the mud would stick to the paneling...
thats if the product you are using can be used on a painted surface. by using kiltz you have made a new surface, the same as a painted surface...kenmax
I have done this many times and will be doing it again this week You run into problems if the paneling is "plastic" wiht a plastic veneer and then kills wont hold or adhere well. For this I prime with an aerospace primer that sticks to anything ($ 100 a gallon) and then paint etc.

you can fill the seams with drywall mud. give it 2 or 3 coats of "kiltz 2" stain blocker primer and your ready to go......kenmax
