Out Of State LLC

I live in CA but have rental properties in AZ. I have been told that in order to set up an LLC I need to provide a business address within the state as well as have someone to act as a statutory agent. Has anyone come across this. How can you make this work and still meet the requirements of the address and agent? :-?

We live in Washington but hold an Idaho LLC. They have better LLC laws. Yes, you need someone in that state that will act as an agent. They don't do much more than posses a local address. Any friend will do it for an extra $20 a year. Or you can go through more formal structures such as attorneys, etc... Good luck.

Corporate law everywhere is that although you can charter a corp or LLC in any state, you must have an "in state" agent-for-service named and appointed.

Purpose is so if that corp or LLC is sued, there is some in-state agent on whom legal service of process may be made.

So anybody chartering new company must weigh the costs of having an agent for service in any state where he wants that corp to do business...and if he wants to open that corp in some other state than where he resides, he must simultaneously name somebody in that state as the AFS.
