    1. An appraiser
    2. How much will you charge me to appraise this property?

Is there any way to get this information without paying a appraiser? How about contacting a realtor for comps?

you can create your own comps through the sales of property in that area...You can even check at court house for sale price of recently sold homes...

I don't want to spend money for an appraisal on the house and come to find out its not a good deal. I just looking for ways of finding this information out with coming out the pocket.

Some of this stuff is even on the county assessors' website. For instance, if you search the Hillsborough County, FL appraiser's site, you can click "similar sales" when you're on any particular home and see what's there.

However, you can also often go to domania and get the details. Homegain is less useful than it once was, and is more interested in funneling you to local brokers.
