NJ Corp. Buying NY Property?

Hi-
We have an S Corp registered in NJ and are buying property (to rent out) in NY. Anyone know if we have to register as a foreign corp in NY?

Thx in advance-

Generally if you are actively doing business in another state that state requires you to file with them.
WHy not start and entity in NY like an LLC or another corp with your S corp as managing director/shareholder?

We may do that for the next property... I'll need to research it further. For this property, however, I have already signed an offer (that has been accepted) in the name of the NJ S Corp. I will register in NY as a foreign corp prior to closing...

    Thanks for the response!
