“NEWBIE NEEDS HELP!!” (Why I love those guys)

I am always happy to see a post here that reads “Newbie needs help!!”, or “Help Please”, or “First Deal and I have no idea what the hell I’m doing!!”

Why you ask? Because it simply means somebody did something. Right or Wrong there was action taken. Even if the deal went to hell, or the “Newbie” goes bankrupt in the process, some positive effort was put forth. Hopefully with all of the input from the wonderful people on this board, the deal will be a success, but you never know in this business. But the most important thing is that there was valuable experience accumulated through ACTION.

There are two types of people on this board, investors and imposters. That’s right, even if you are brand new to this type of investing, but you are willing to put in the time and effort required, you are a Real Estate Investor. If you Talk the Talk, but are not willing to Walk the Walk, you are an imposter. Plain and simple.

John Locke is no smarter than any of you. He simply developed a system, and USED IT! Now everyone respects him and his opinion. Why? Does he have more hours in the day than you? No. Was he born with more intelligence than you? No. I don’t think he had more advantages in life than anyone else. He simply wanted to make a better life for himself and his family. HE TOOK ACTION. I use John as an example, but this can apply to anyone else here.

I have always been a firm believer that doing something is always better than doing nothing. If you need help, there is always help available. The Bible says “The meek shall inherit the earth.” This may be true, but I always say; “The procrastinator will finish last.”

“All the problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly, its spines crumble.”

-William S. Halsey

“Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.”

-Andrew Carnegie

“Think of yourself as on the threshold of unparalleled success. A whole, clear glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!”

-Andrew Carnegie

Finally some one who is for us!!!!!! Thanks!!!! fuche65 We are trying really hard. Some days we work 15 hours, some days round the clock looking at ugly houses, doing property searches, writing and sending out 150 letter a week to owners. We are really trying here. Thanks so much for beleiving there are people out here that are busting their ***** to make a go of this wonderful, fun opportunity. I am 51, my son is 24, and we love this business, and have a goal set. By nest year and a half we will own an apartment complex!! Many thanks to all the professional investors and their programs and their promise of 1 year of their help and advice!

Yes, the bible says that the meek will inherit the earth. But, it also teaches to count the costs as well. As long as we are talking about scripture, remember the illustration that says that it would be easier for a camel to p***** through the eye of needle than it would be for the rich man to enter into the kingdom of god? In other words greed is a powerful stumbling block.

I dont think we ought to tip our hat to the "newbie" even if he goes bankrupt in the name of "taking action". Haste makes waste, bankruptcy has a 10 year financial prison term. This business is an INVESTMENT for your future, greed will surely doom you to failure.

Be carefull of the advice to just do anything in the name of not being an "imposter". Doing your homework, asking questions and reading on the subject IS TAKING ACTION. You do not have be doing a deal to earn respect from anyone.

    Happy investing and be careful!!

All valid points WD. The point I am trying to make is that if you do not take some action, life will p***** you by. I am in no way giving the "Gordon Gecko" speech, or implying that a person should take action for the sake of saying they did something. Due Diligence should be done first. But once the analysis is done.....Do Something. I have had too many friends in this business fail because of Analysis Paralysis.

" too many people are busy working for a living to make any money"

"The meek shall inherit the earth, but not the mineral rights" - J Paul Getty

The mineral rights will go to those who dig deeper for what they are looking for. A little metaphor mixing, basically agreeing with the original comments. No matter what your idea of 'success,' it's on your way to that point where that the real value lies as this knowledge and experience will be used over and over again.

Fauche...great call...that's what I tell all of the newb-investors that ask me questions. I love that fact that they're asking, but I also let them learn some things on their own - especially since many of them will back away before the first deal commences anyways.

BTW - "meek" in the Scripture doesn't imply "whimpy." The meaning refers to someone who has strength but limits their use of it to help promote others.

    Thanks Fauche65

"willing to put in the time and effort, that's a start.

To FACE Fear and use it , now that to me is motivating . When "fear" is faced, there are countless positive rewards. One being the reward of "confidence".. "If I can do this, then the next time I CAN DO that "

I Believe that you can find a positive in a negitive situation, if nothing else, if you learned something that in it's self is a "positive".

Yes,I did jump in ...Yes I DID Purchase a "fixer". Did it work out ? YES!! DID I learn?

YES!! Will I do better? YES !

I have a collection of motivating sayings..here is one : "Small ATTEMPTS Repeated Will Complete Any Undertaking "

    Thanks fauche65..

    Regards,

    David (mcldavid)

Try to encourage newcomer's is a good thing but in my opinion, the above story would achieve the same point without you having to name the names and do the unnecessary comparisons.

I need help. I need a fixer home, I have found several that I would pay more just for the land I'm talkin' $4500 - $25,000 But my credit is shot and I can't find a bank that would finance these properties. I spoke to one realtor that mentioned a place called Union Planners Bank,

they will finance up to 6 homes at up to 40 or $60,000 each and as low as $5000. Has anyone heard of a lending institute that does this?
