Newbie Looking For Help In Memphis
I am looking for a builder to partner with and teach me the ins and outs of spec home building. I have experience as a commercial lender and know the finance side but would like to become a builder and real estate developer in the Memphis, TN area.
Have you tried calling some of the guys with the Memphis Builders Association?
well,
looks like i am the only one willing to share but that is ok!

Hi, Larry,
Would you like to share some details about your deals?
Are you only interested in commercial development? Why not residential, especially in a hot housing market as yours?

Hi everyone. I started in real estate about 5 years ago. I gave up everything I had, moved into a trailer park, and put all my money into a piece of land in CA. It took me three years, but I built my first house and made a large profit. With the profit I bought a condo buy the beach and anther piece of land in southern Utah where I am building another home. It was difficult at first, but the sacrifice was worth it.

I started out as a real estate investor, office space, specialty commercial, single family homes in the 80’s. I started a condo development business four years ago in Fort Myers. In 2006 will have four communities with over 400 condos going up.. I just sold the business (closed last week) and will continue with commercial development. Currently I am building a 70,000sf office building – seven stories, Class A. Also a 127 lot luxury gated community in Cape Coral. I write a weekly real estate investment column. Made alot of money investing in preconstruction condos over the last three years. Used to be a frequent contributor to TCI - now only once in a while.
My favorite expression is that is is only called work if you would rather be doing something else.
There is nothing I would rather be doing.

Hi All,
I am located in Metro Atlanta and do many jobs all within the RE field. Primarily I invest in commercial/land, and, secondary, broker commercial/land deals as well as do some consulting work for clients. I am either the managing member, or a partner in 4 companies at the present time. I am also a 3rd generation RE investor/professional and have been in the field practically my whole life. My major project at this time is a 73k sq ft plus medical office development as well as a couple of smaller residential projects.

Ill go
Got started in realestate 12 years ago (18 years old) when i refused to pay rent and bought a trailor to live in (still own and produces a nice $$ flow) Then about 4 years ago while visiting a friend at her condo on the beach in Gulfshores Al I decieded i shoulfd buy one too. Bought, rehabbed and sold 4 that year and started buying and selling preconstruction condos. Now that that market seems to be over for now(flipping before purchase) I purchased 3 brand new condos at the beach and started renting them out. Now I want to start building and developing. I bought a lot on the river in Mobile Al last year. Yesterday 4 acres of wetlands across the lightly traveled dead end street (6 neighbors) came up for sale. So now my new project could turn out to be camp houses on piles with a little bridge leading up to each one. I will be able to offer river access across my existing lot .. Depending on what ADEM and the COR has to say about it !!
I also own a palmtree farm and I am a realestate agent.
Good to see all the replies folks- keep them coming!
