New Development
How does one find out where new single family developments are being done.
I live in Phoenix, AZ and am trying to find new single family homes that are being developed but the only way i know how is by driving around. Very time consuming.

most definitely. Stop by the local planning and zoning office for the county and/or city and question and tell them you are doing market research and would like to know what projects are currently under construction and what projects are in the pipeline but not yet broken ground. You can also go by the permitting office and ask what projects have active land disturbance permits and what applications they have on file.
You may want to talk to a real estate broker as well. Here in Atlanta a magazine is published for brokers on a regular basis that lists all new developments, price points, builder info, location, etc.
Sure beats driving around.
I would just add that it may be more valuable for you to find out the properties that are in the pipeline than those already under construction. Also ask about properties where rezoning requests have been filed. Knowing about both of these could help you to target specific areas or parcels.
