New Centex Development - Raleigh NC Area

so there is a new development going up in the raleigh nc area, actually in cary, and it seems like the homes will be pretty nice. great location, nice ameneties in the area, fantastic schools, etc.

the development is still in the site work stage. i have the gut feeling that these homes will all sell pretty well. for the sake of argument, lets say that these homes all will sell pretty well, interest will be very high, etc.

my initial investor goal is buy and hold, but after reading a bunch here and seeing what other people are doing, it seems like getting an option (is that the right term) may be a good idea.

what steps should i take with the builder to sniff out the possibilities? incidentally, im going to my first REI club meeting tomorrow, so im sure ill get some more face-to-face advice there. i figured id see what people come up with here.

thanks in advance for any and all comments/recommendations!

Centex is a very large home builder- nationwide. Good luck doing an option contract with them. I doubt they will do it since they tend to do a lot of market studies and they want closings, period.

Try it though and see what they say.

Centex is not very investor friendly. I think they are expensive (in Florida anyways)
