Nevada Law For Personal Property

Does anyone have any info or know where I can get info on the Nevada law guidelines for recovering personal property from a home lost to foreclosure? The eviction was on 10/19. A notice was posted on the garage stating we had to remove our personal property "immediately" or it would be disposed of "according to nevada law". The notice was dated 10/25 but not posted until 10/29. The agent was at the house today for some reason- we just happen to run into them. They said we could go on 10/6 to recover our stuff - they have been dishonest and sneaky from the beginning so I was worried. I called and asked for a fax of something in writing stating we agreed that I could get the property on thursday but he said he wasnt working today and he would do it on monday if i called to remind him. any info would help. thanks a bunch

Personal property must not be held, hostage. The general rule is that you have 14 days to remove your personal property. If not, then they will send you a registered letter(certified letter) at your last known address. Hopefully you have a forwarding address. They will tell you where your personal property has been stored-if it has been removed from the premise. My understanding is that the personal property inside the house is secure. But, (according to what a constable once told me) your property left in the gargage is considered to be as if left www.outside.There is no responsibily for property left outside.

I believe the personal property must be held for 30 days in a safe storage area. This can be both good and bad for you. The good is that your stuff is suppose to be safe, the bad is that you have to pay for it.

The person taking care of the property is allowed to charge and collect for the costs to inventory, move and store the property and recoup these costs before releasing the property.

After the 30 days are up the property can be disposed of so the costs can be recouped.

I highly recommend you get your stuff immediately.
