Bought the house for cash in a partners name. Partner and I have split now hes selling the property and trying to keep all of the money. I have no IOU or paperwork that says I paid for it except for my cancelled check. From what I understand you cant put a mechanics lien unless you have proof of work done! DOnt know what to do!
I think that if you were to file a lawsuit, you could tie up the property so that it couldn't be sold until it was sorted out (through negotiations, mediations, or court).
