yeah, I don't know how accurate some of those online sites are for comps, I checked my own house before, and the value shown must of been from when the people we bought our house from bought the house, it was off liike $40,000! Guess that's when you need to check lots of houses within a mile or 2 radius.

I use homerader and domania to estimate comps. For property detail (bed/bath, lot size, etc.) I use the BofA comp at http://www.bankofamerica.com/loansandhomes/index.cfm?template=hc_home_worth. I don't trust the BofA numbers, but it's great to get the property detail.
BoA, for Houston anyways, appears to pull info from the county apprasial district, which is probably why their values are ghey.
be aware of how fresh the comps are produced by these site, they can skew the results.
