Who Is Above The Rules?
Kyle,
I personally wish to apologize for what I said in your forum area. My thoughts were, are we as Moderators above the policies here at TCI.

I am the one who sent in the "Report This Post" to the Moderators on the Commercial Forum. So you will see where a Moderator decided to take it upon themselves and say this post was reported, however I am above the rules so I will let it remain.
When this is allowed then the Moderators loose their ability to be effective and the poster is brought into the middlle, so we lose a member in the process.
You handled the response in a professional manner and this should let the members know that if you break the rules the Moderators who are not above the rules will take action.
This was absolutely senseless to let this kind of irresponsible action go unattened as if to say "to hell with the rules, I will huff and puff and whoever is in the way gets run over."
I have let a post, which was a disquised ad remain from time to time to prove a point to a few posters who thought that the Moderators are to tough, I asked them to evaluate the post on whether it is an ad or not before anyone answered.
Once the members start anwering pm me or email then the poster who I was trying to make a point to realized that we have seen enough of them to know the difference when someone is advertising and when someone is really posting for help or giving information.

No apology needed, I actually agreed with the discussion, but I didnt want that discussed there. It was a very good discussion, just not there. By the time I got around to checking your complaint, all that had already been there, so it was the only thing I could really do. After reading it again, I am just going to delete it though.
And for what its worth we are above the rules lol
The referance on that post by the way is to http://www.C-loans.com. On the surface its a good way to make money, hopefully Joel will be able to reverse engineer, or err ummm make a new business model of it.
As far as other posts are concerned, I usually let the advertisements stay for a while as well (minus contact info), with my recommendation. I think of it as the head of the conquered being left at the edge of town for all to see as they walk in. Or a mild warning.

Kyle,
Spartacus was a famous Roman slave who did manage to escape and form a group of slaves who defeated the Roman army in battle.
However, their success did not last for long as the army managed to stop more slaves from joining Spartacus and placed them on wooden crosses to warn others what would happen to them.
There are those of us who leave the wooden crosses up to warn others and one that would rather join the SLAVES to make our moderating responsibility difficult.
Anyway when in Rome.
