Vin #
I own a 1970 new moon mobile home and have lost the title for it. The secretary of state says I need the vin # verified by the state police, but I cannont find the vin # anywhere on it. Does anybody have any idea where the vin # would be located?
All mobile/manufactured home built after June 17th, 1976 should have "Hud Tags" on the outside rear wall of the home, they are 2 small metal plates riveted to the house itself. On homes built before this date, it had to be registered by your states department of motor vehicles. If you can't find your vin number , try looking in all door jams, threshholds, and windows for a small metal plate with tons of numbers on it. You could also visit your local department of motor vehcles to see if they have you on record there as well. Good Luck, hope this helps........ :-D
For your 1970 mobile home ... also look for a paper with mobile home info in the bedrooms closets wall, laundry room cabinets or wall, or central heater closet.
Most state offices can still run a search by other ID numbers ... like serial number and if your state provides a "decal" number, and even your name.
That would be such a waste of state police time & money come to your mobile home to check on the vin #.

I have been selling mobile home in parks & the park as a business for 14 years.
We have always referred to the date as June 16, 1976 not "after June 17".
On June 16, 1976 is when the federal law on improved building codes went into law.
But maybe lenders & mortgage people see it differently. But by saying "after June 17, 1976" would excluded June 16 but the new law was in affect on June 16.
The date just stood out from my working knowledge.
