Difference Between Modular And Manufactured?
Is there a difference between a manufactured home and a modular home? or is modular just a pretty new word to use?
I am curious, because I wanted to buy a manufactured home for my investment land, should I look into "modular" homes, I assumed the were the same.
Anybody know??? Thanks
This is my understanding:
A modular home is built to local codes section by section, or wall by wall, in a factory and installed on a permanent foundation and sealed up by your local builder.
A manufactured home is a fancy new name for a mobile home. These are built to Federal HUD specifications, have a metal frame and are trucked to your lot on their own wheels.
The modular home is sometimes difficult to spot vs a stick-built home and usually appreciates in value. The manufactured home depreciates in value.

modular homes are also generally considered up to par with typical stick built homes. Manufactured homes can still be discriminated against for lending and insurance purposes.
there is alot of confusion in this area.
Modular, stick built, panels, SIPS, etc.
The big diference is build to code or not, and financibility.
