If the mobile home has been abandoned ... then contact state HCD (Housing & Community Development). HCD is responsible on titling mobile homes. The Sacramento Office phone number is 916-255-2532 ask for Don (he is the supervisor -- excellent knowledge). He may have to transfer you or he may be able to mail you the forms.

Just like park owners have to file papers with HCD when residents abandoned their mobile homes in a park ... you will have to complete the forms also. You can not sell it and no mover will transport it because title papers and moving permits all go thru HCD.

HCD will require that you have the Decal number ... the number either starts with a "L" red sticker and an "A" blue sticker. This number is in the front of the mobile home.

HCD will require that you know the HCD Insignia numbers which are usually in the back either red or old ones are black. Also located on the carport side.

Also inside the mobile is the "Manufactured Compliance Sticker" ... usually in the laundry room, master bedroom closet, 2nd bedroom closet, furance closet, or in kitchen sink cabinet.

You can tell by the HCD decal number ... if it starts with a "L" then it is on personal property taxes with your county. If the decal numbers starts with a "A" ... then it is on annual registration with HCD.

If the mobile home is on personal property taxes ... then any County taxes must be paid current and the County will issue a "Tax Clearance". A Tax Clearance will be required by HCD to complete the abandonment forms. (Ask Don at HCD if this would be required under your situation.)

But again all title registration is the HCD.

    GOOD LUCK !
