Mini Blinds
does anyone know of a good way to clean these or is it just easier to toss them. I tried a feather-type duster and that didn't work. It's just regular grime, nothing greasy or overly gross. The only thing I can think of is taking a bucket & rag and wiping each slat and I believe I'd go bonkers. I've got no idea why anyone would ever purchase these stupid things but almost every property I looked at had them, including the one I bought.
You can soak them in the bathtub or for the cost of them just replace them if they are the vinyl type.
i replace them. they are about 4 to 5 bucks apiece at walleyworld. they are hard to clean and if afew yrs. old they will fade and if clean still look dirty. for me its by far easier to toss.. and the reason i use them is they are so cheap compared to curtains and are phyically and fin. easy to replace ........kenmax[ Edited by kenmax on Date 07/13/2004 ]
If they require anything more than closing and dusting off I go pick up new ones at lowes for ~$3.50-4.
thanks everyone. I thought I was just too lazy to deal with cleaning these but I'm glad others also think it's the pain I envisioned this chore to be
Much more worth the hassle to purchase them - Home Depot, same price $4 or $5... Very simple fix to the problem and the windows look better with new blinds!

We're not even required to supply mini blinds in our units-and we do not.
For small windows, yes, it's probably easier to replace. Blinds for my larger windows run $15-25 and that can add up. I usually soak them in the tub w/ a strong cleaner and then hang them outside, scrub them a bit and hose them off w/ a pressure nozzle. Also, I always buy the off-white color.
Great tip here!!! Use a vacuum with a suction brush attachment and the blinds come clean in no time. Always be sure to stroke downwards when the blinds are closed. It's the little things that count.
well we took the stupid things down, took them out back and hosed them off, rubbing over them with a rag and some Mr. Clean. Never again. next time, I'll take them down and put them in the closet and if the tenants want them, they can put them back up dirty or they can wash them.
thanks all
