currently i am using black on yellow. stands out like a dead deer in the middle of the road. the authorities dont like them too much because they look like yield signs. i have actually seen some that are shaped like a stop sign and say "STOP Foreclosure" i cant immagine how many accidents those cause.
i have used blue on white, black on white, blue on yellow, black on orange and black on yellow. i must say that the black on white and black on yellow work the best. good luck and stay out of trouble with them.
yeah they are great for when your on a budget and to reinforce your brand.
theres actually a science to doing it. when i first started putting them out i was really ruthless and would put them everywhere including peoples yards (thats how i got my first deal, i put one in someones overgrown, crapy yard) that actually got alot of people and towns pissed the heck off. I probably had just as many calls from the town officials as from interested people. it took me around a year to figure out how many to put up and where to put them that would be tolerated by the different towns without pissing them off. i would rather have 3 signs up in every town then not be able to put up signs at all because i or someone else went out and put up 100 signs in one night and ruined it for everyone/myself.
they are a necessary hassle that im sure you will get to know all too well.
In my area, it seems that the officials are more tolerant of the signs that are not so I BUY HOUSES blatant. There is a company that has white signs with black lettering on what looks to be poster board with a hand written font - Jason buys houses. It is made to look home made and it looks like no other sign. Yes they probably put up more signs, but I see their signs lasting at the same spot much longer than the red and yellow or yellow and black generic I BUY HOUSES.
Hmm... Yellow with black letters seems like it wont stand out enough. Does red letters on white background work well for anyone?
