A Marketing Mistake
I don't know if it's just me worrying about where I shouldv;e put my ad for tomorrow or if it really is a better spot.
I put my ad in the paper for tomorrow in the Realty Wanted section...I'm looking for motivated sellers (who isn't?). But I am now thinking I should have put it in the "Notices" section right before the classifieds, I seem to notice there first before I look elsewhere...hmm
I guess I'll just have to see how things go tomorrow...and experiment a little next time.
It almost sounds like I'm being supersticious....
Anyone have more success in one section than in another?

Test it. In our local paper we have a 'Real Estate Wanted' section. With the usual 10 other investors. I did see an ad in the 'Wanted To Buy' section along with the guys who want to buy cameras, baseball cards and coins. I have to admit it JUMPED out at you. It seemed 'outta place'. So, I guess it worked.
Good Luck

Ran my 1st ad today in the local paper, "I buy Houses", didn't get one bite....hmmm
I think the problem could be my ad was next to 30 others that said the same thing...and mine was about the 25th on the list.
Obviously it's going to take a lot more than one ad to get me going.
I did find a vacant house today in a nice area, and looked up about 80 or so absentee owners...I'm going to try the mail approach.
My ad will be running through next saturday, I emailed the newspaper, told them I'd like to switch from the "Real estate wanted" section to the "Notices" section....seems to be less competition in that category.
Anyone in Florida know the rules for Bandit signs?
I should also look into getting a magnet sign for my truck.
It is a little discouraging...that my phone rang not even once...I'd be happier if someone just called and hung up on me...oh well

JB -
Any calls today from your ad? I've noticed a pattern with my Sunday ad, people call on Monday when they bring the paper into work.
P.S. - Try to adjust your ad so it starts with numbers (1.2.3.), or (a.b.c.), this should put you at the top of the list, sinc emost papers put their ads alphabetically too.
Let us know, and good luck!
Mike
Try adding the wording Local some where in the start. Also put it in the For Sale section. In my paper that comes before Real Estate Wanted. Also people selling are looking to see what properties are worth and will see you ad first. My 2cents
You can't expect the phone to be ringing from the first day...especially with 25 other folks running ads. Make yours stand out...#1 Dad Buys Houses. Use special characters to get top placement. Keep the fishing line in the water, because the fish only bite when the line is out. That means, keep an ad out, and keep it out. Try a couple of other marketing strategies, though, like direct mail, magnetic signs, etc. in addition to your ad.
