I think it would depend on what your credit card company does. Have they shut down that account? Will you be given credit for the old account on the new account you set up? What notation will they put for that account on your credit report? These questions need to be presented to your card company. I would advise that you make absolutely sure that the old card is invalid, Identity theft is on the rise. and check your report every couple of months to make sure there are no bogus charges.
