Lost Posts.

What's up with the forums?

I got a page many times that said forum doesn't exist several times.

Now all the things I posted today are gone as well as many responses to those posts.

Did some posts get lost?

Will you be able to get them back?

I was up to a junior level with 31 posts. Now I am down to 24. That means 7 posts of mine are missing.

And with multiple responses to my posts that is several dozen repsonses that are missing too.

I have had the same problem. Is there a break down of what you are not supposed to post, or is this just random?

One of my posts was in regard to a bank I am currently working with, and I just reposted it to get info, which I did this time. How do we know what we should be putting. I really do not want to be wasting my time typing advice or asking questions just to be delted.

    thanks

    Victor,

There is almost a 2 day gap of posts missing from the 12th to the 14th.

I can only assume that data has been lost on the server.

My hope is that it is not permanently gone and the have back ups.

Hopfully they are in the process of restoring the post that have been lost.

Perhaps the major black out the northeast had today has something to do with it.

I hope that is it, and they are not randomly deleting stuff like that. I am actually asking ligitimate questions, or trying to answer peoples questions if I have the knowledge, and time. We will see, I have also emailed support, and one of the moderators.

Other then that this is a great site.

    thanks

    Hello all,
I just happened on here, to read some posts and saw this thread.
I too run a website with a discussion forum, and the same thing happened to us today on my website.
I have a feeling it has to do with a couple of things.
There was a Blackout in the Northern part of the country and Canada, which may have effected servers that host several websites........a guess there though.

The other thing, the service I use to host my website, which very well might be tied to this one, was migrating files without telling the customers today.
I lost a week worth of posts on my board, and now they have re-appeared, but we still cannot run some scripts etc.

I am sure Joel and the good folks here are on top it, and it would seem they are not deleting posts.......just technical difficulties.

Be patient with webmasters, believe me, we work a lot of energy into keeping our websites active and running as smooth as we can.
However, some times, things are just plain beyond our control.......as I am guessing is the case here.

Take care, and hopefully, over the next day or so, the web will be back to normal.

Actually the answer is none of the above.

    Short Answer:
We has a problem due to our growth.

    Long Answer:
Our database has started to become so big, that during peak times it is too cumbersome for the servers. You can probably see that the website is slow during Tuesdays (after our weekly newsletter). We had to think of a backup.

We now have a database that is being duplicated in real time to another server. With this we have had to do some major jerry rigging until we go up to MD for the second server upgrade (this upcoming week).

Anyway the mirrored server was answering queries that it shouldn't have and the only part of the site that looks like it is effected was the forum area.

    Sorry for the inconveniences guys.
