Locating A House Using Tax ID In El Dorado

Hi Ron and other experts,

I have the tax ID number and legal description (Lot number, Block number) of a house in El Dorado county. Is there a way to locate the house online ?

I know I can go consult tax maps at the county, but I work during day time and would rather avoid using a vacation day for that if I can help it.

If there is no online resource, is there a way to place an order for county parcel maps without going to El Dorado ? I mean by phone/credit card ?

Thanks,

Do a google search for the county name and assessor. I seem to recall that the assessment roll there is online. I know that the recorder's grantor/grantee index is online. That is a help in locating information: former owner's name, lenders and loans, etc.

If you can't find it, e-mail me, I can use CD-DATA to look up properties in CA.

    Hi Ron,

Thank you for your prompt reply. What I found on the assessor's web page is the legal description, former owner's name, etc., but no actual address (other than the fact that it's in Placerville subdivision).

I want the actual address so I can go look at the house. I found on the recorder-clerk's web site a set of 6 CD's of "official recorded maps" that they sell for $235.56. Is that, in your opinion, the most cost effective way, or is there a cheaper or even free way to get the address from the parcel ID and legal ?

    Thanks,

    Hi Ron and all,

I figured the answer to my own question. The maker of CD-DATA has a web site, http://ParcelQuest.com , with a 2 day free trial. My next week-end's plans are all cut out for me. I may as well get all my money's worth from the 2 day free trial.

I haven't tried it yet, but wanted to share the info with those who might be interested. Don't use this info to compete with me though. No TCI members are allowed in El Dorado county the next 7 days.
