Someone please explain to me in detail how and why and what an LLC is. I see it a lot on this site. How do I start one? What is it for? Thanks. grin

It is for your protection. you go to a lawyer or an accountant who can set one up. they are about 200-500 dollars. go to google and type in LLC and read about them

    "they are about 200-500 dollars"

ryand - Is that roughly what an attorney would charge for consultation and LLC setup or would that include for example.... reserving LLC name for 90days with state; filing Articles of Organization & Operation Agreement docs? In Illinois these articles cost about $900 - $1200 to file personally.

It cost me $100 to register an LLC all by myself in Virginia. I printed out a form, filled it out, made out a check, and dropped it off at the government building.

    A measily $100.
