LLC Question...

I am in the process of forming my own LLC, does anyone know what a Franchise Fee is and what it is for or applies to? (I am not talking about starting a McDonalds either!)

I know California has a Franchise Fee of $800/yr (!!!) but I can't find anything on Texas, but I found a reference to the Texas Franchise Fee for LLC's in Texas. Anyone have any knowledge of this?

I don't think that Texas has one that affects industries other than the telecommunications industry. I would call the Secretary of state corporate division and ask (or CAll)

Here is a website of a lawyer who sets up entities in Texas that might respond to an e-mail. Or any other of the hundreds of companies that will do it for the filing fees +$100.
    Good Luck!

Here is a link to the Texas Secretary of State. You might find the info there.
