Real Estate Law Books

I was just wondering if anyone can give me a couple of good real estate law books? I want to read more about real estate investing and I just wanted some insight on the laws in Tennessee or just in general. Also, give me some website if you know of any. Thanks.

    Glad to meet you.

You can start on the State of TN website.

Start reading the state statutes on real estate. Since these laws concern TN this will help you in your investing career where you live.

Welcome on board this board, a good place to start for the new person in any state.

You won't find much on the topic on real estate investing in law books. Mostly you'll just find the law

I salute you on your desire to become familiar with the laws in your state. I suggest you stroll down to your local law library (there is one at each courthouse and in every law school) and peruse the real estate practitioners manuals. There you will find many gems: primers on the landlord/tenant act, information on 1031 exchanges, how to file a quiet title action, and, perhaps most important for the nonlawyer - - legal forms (contracts, etc).

Welcome aboard. As an attorney myself (admitted in Florida) I'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

I think what you are looking for may be a real estate practice book for TN. this will be the textbook used by future real estate licensees. You can probably get a copy at your local book store, the state licensing borad, or your local community college. Maybe Amazon carries copies, too?
These books explain the law in easy to understand terms, as they are for everyday prople, not law students.

    Good Luck!

You're getting some great advice here, with which I fully agree.

The RE Handbooks, or Guides, which are sold by MLS & Realtors' Supply offices, are usually very well done and explain a lot regarding your local RE law.

There are some sold on this site that are good too, so look them over. They're not necessarily cheap, but neither are good law books.

I like "Owner Will Carry" by Bill Broadbent and Geo. Rosenberg. A great and simple classic that explains a lot about RE investment, financing, note selling, etc.

I'm sure Amazon has it if it's not on this site.
