Land Area Formula Question
If I have a piece of land and it has 5 sides. What is the total square footage of the land size?
Is this enough information to calculate the area?
side
#1 - 209.03 feet
#2- 250.00 feet
#3 - 201.85 feet
#4 - 110.00 feet
#5 - 340.56 feet
Can you tell I failed Geometry in HS? hehe
TIA
Erik
Eric, you would have to know the angles at each corner to calculate the acreage. Just keep this in mind, one acre is equal to 43,560 square feet, which is a little bigger than 200' x 200'.
THX guitarbrad.
Yea, I thought there might be more I would need to know.
Oh well.
There are a couple of ways to find out the area of the parcel. The legal description in the deed usually (in PA) states the total area in SF or AC. There's software where you can plug in the courses and distances (X degrees N for 200 ft) and it will draw the parcel to scale. Once you have a geometic shape, you can break it down into sub-geometric shapes and calculate the SF of each sub-shape. Does something around 75,340 SF sound right?
