JP Called A Pretrial Meeting Today...
Hi, if anyone can give insight please do. We are in Texas. I filed papers for eviction and immediate possession of a rental property (sf home) on Aug 8th. The jP set the date for the hearing Sept 1st. My Tenant(also has a seperate option to buy) came into the JP court and wants a jury trial. The court called me a little while ago to come to a pretrial hearing. Today is the 30th. The hearing was (is) set for Sept 1st. I know that is his right (to ask for a jury trial) but does the landlord have any rights to a speedy disposition of this? Thanking you in advance if you can give any help.
