Is This A Scam?

Hi. I attended the free Cash-Flow Generator workshop this afternoon and was intrigued with REI opportunities. I signed up for the (expensive) 3-day seminar, but now am unsure after reading some negative comments on other websites. Can someone who has experience help me figure out if the 3-day workshop is worth the money? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! THANKS! confused

Please, don't spend the money. If you are serious about investing you will be proactive and do the research.

    Best of luck,

There is a Ron Legrand Forum here on TCI, I'd suggest looking there for opinions on the course material offered in the three day seminar. $3995 is alot of cash. You'll come out of there with alot of good knowledge, and super motivated, however, 3 days is alot of information, most of which you won't retain completely a week later.
I'd recommend spendingan hour or two here in TCI for a couple of weeks. The information on this site is second to none, and comes at you at whatever speed you can absorb it. AND ITS FREE!,
After you understand some of the concepts, you'll get more out of the 3 day bootcamps.

You will learn and ultimately absorb more information here and at your local REI club for FREE than you could possibly learn in 3 days. Yes, the 'gurus' are knowledgable and can offer great info, but it's info you can find for free on this forum and at the public library.

Go to Clark Howard's site and see what he says about REI seminars.

For that kind of money I will teach you for 8 hours per day for a month and buy you a big Mac everyday and maybe even a soda and fries. Save the money and do your own learning.

    Good LUCK and Thank You
    Hope this helps some

The best money you will ever spend is the cost of becoming a member of this site!!! You can spend all the money you want on all the programs you want but if you dont use the information, you will never get out of the hole you are digging. The knowledge you will gain here is something you cant put a price on and the expertise is unbelievable!! The best part of this site is the willingness of strangers to help other strangers with almost anything that comes to the forums!!! Hope this helps! Good luck and I would try to get my money back before it is to late.

I guess I have a different view than everyone else.

I have to ask a question before I answer this one.

Do you have a lot of money?

If you are committed to this business and want to fast track your learning, YOU MUST invest in someone's package.

The virtues of this site are many. But to get info here you have to know what questions to ask. A truly NEWBIE doesnt know what he doesnt know.

So that is the big problem. Where to begin? What to ask?

Seminars are good, but the cost is high. If you are starting and you need the money. Read books. Read a bunch of posts. Buy Ron's courses.

A SEMINAR is usually info added with motivation. If you know that you are committed then you dont need the cheerleading.

But you MUST invest in your education.
I would definitely buy the Ron Legrand courses. They are on EBAY for a few hundred dollars.

I own them, I bought them higher and I attended a seminar for $1500.

I can tell you that it wasnt worth it. But then I just cashed a HUGE check.

NEVER REGRET SPENDING REAL MONEY ON EDUCATION.

Provided you do a little homework and find the right people teaching the right stuff.

Ron doesnt run the seminars anymore. So I dont like the way they are managed.

But I have heard many gurus say many things.

NO ONE is truly original. I always hear something that leads me back to Ron, so I know they ALL own his stuff.

I dont care what they say.

    Good Luck,

Is it a scam? No. Many people, including myself gladly pay this money to accelerate our investing careers. I have never been to Ron's bootcamps, but I have been to others (none more than $1000), and they are well worth it, IF you can afford it without putting a crimp in your budget. It is very true that you can find an enormous amount of information here and all over the web, but some people just do better in different educational settings. I have spent about 10K on education (courses and seminars) over the last year and a half, and my first wholesale deal netted me $4200. Out rehabs normally net us around 23K, and we just sold one for $26K, so my education is paid for many times over. Was my success due to the seminars? It's impossible to say, but I think they definitely motivated me to take action and give you tools to go out and do it. I am a teacher, and as such I appreciate the educational setting. It works for me, and you get to network with many other experienced investors. Everyone is different, and I would tell you to go to some cheaper seminars first to get an idea where you would like to focus.

    Good INvesting,
    Gary

As a previous employee of a Real Estate Seminar company I can tell you without a doubt that any money you spend on these seminars is a waste. All you are going to learn there is enough information to make you dangerous to yourself and others! Plus they will spend at least 75% of the training trying to sell you more training programs. Avoid them at all costs!! I worked for them for 2 years and have been successfully investing for 3 but I didnt learn what I know form working for them I did it all by trial and error. Just be careful!

THANKS to all of you who responded to my query. I appreciate all of your help and advice. I am going to send the company a Notice of Cancellation today (within the 3-day cancelletion period) and research on my own. Again, many thanks!

Was it the Ron Legrand session, or was it the late night infomercial with the 2 midget twins. I know you have gotten a lot of feedback, but I just left a 3 day workshop 2 weekends ago which I paid $1600 for and I do not feel it was the most useful investment for myself. At the end of this workshop, they sell you another program which cost up to $35,000, and if you don't purchase, they make you feel like you are not committed. I do feel that you should think of your real estate education as an investment, just as a lot of us do with college, but don't ever invest in something you are not comfortable with doing.

It was the late night infomercial with the 2 midget twins, not the LeGrand seminar. I mailed my cancellation notice this afternoon. Now, I just have to hope that SDI applies the credit quickly. Thanks again!

Why not send us all their printed info? I could use that.
