No firsthand knowledge but my friend is from Tuscaloosa and another friend recently bought 13 (!) SFHs in Alabama to take advantage of the "Go Zone" tax incentives.
The friend from Tuscaloosa has lived in CA for many years but went back last Christmas and was surprised at the development and growth, especially along the Tuscaloosa- Birmingham corridor.
The 13 SFHs were purchased for $110,000 to $165,000 each last December. 12 have already been rented for about $850/mo. These are all new construction, mostly 3/2, around 1500 sq ft.
Thanks for the help. I spoke to someone at Ramjack who estimated $2,500 - $3,500. I will get a more formal quote, but this at least gives me an idea of how much to ask the homeowner to pay.
