Investor Or Do It Yourself?

My husband is a subcontractor and we are wanting to start rehabbing houses. Right now we are working on getting our credit scores upto par , mine is 590 and his is....... just say a lot lower (he has some tax issues). I carry all the debt in our household. I have never filed taxes with him so none of his tax issues/judgements are on my credit and a few years back when we sold some land that was in both our names I recieved a check and his portion went to pay some of his taxes.

My question is should we wait until we get our credit on track or is it possible to do it and use the funds we make to get out of debt. Or am I dreaming? Also should we find an investor to work with on rehabbing houses or is it possible some how some way do this on our own?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
