Check the local newspaper and find ads which state, "WE BUY HOUSES!" these are investors. Call them and introduce yourself.

The most realiable area of real estate is whatever works in your area or the area you chose to work in.
Houston is a large city, with lots of employment opportintues and big business. Lots of people, moving in and out, lots of $$$ moving around the city. Lots of foreign investment cash flows through Houston. This tells me the world is your oyster for your RE options!
Go to your local RE investment group club. You may find one listed on this site.
