Installing A Drop In Tub

I checked up on the work yesterday and noticed that the platform was not built as I thought it would be. Instead of the edge of the tub resting on the tile they built the platform right up along side so that the tile would be even or slightly higher than edge of tub! This would create a potential water problem and need sealing I would imagin. I hate to do it but I think they need to redo the whole thing.

There is no right or wrong, only 2 methods and you have to chose which one you prefer, tile up to the tub or tub on top of the tile.

Tile up to the tub is easier since you can set the tub first and not have to be as skilled in your calculations because of the tile under the tub lowering your deck height. Tile under the tub takes more skill and slows down the job since you usually have to split the tiling into two parts, with the deck being set and grouted , then set the tub, then tile the rest, but tub over tile gives you a cleaner look.

Whoa, I just reread your original post - are you saying they built the drop in tub deck around the tub after the tub was set in place?

It sounds like you need to give them more direction. Tell them what your expectations are. Never assume that someone is going to do a job the way you invision Share that vision with whom ever is doing the work, make sure that they understand your vision and that it is possible. It is also a good idea to get a second option from another contractor before starting a job.

You can run a LLC - great for sole proprietors.

For businessplans - there are lots of sample plans on the internet. Use one as a basis to give you an idea of the area but first - decide what you want to do, where you want to take this because you needd that information to do the business plan.

As for startup, many banks do no look favorably on companies that buy and hold or even flip realestate.
There is the SBA who offers loans for startups but definitely not for real estate investing companies.
