How To Get The Lender To Talk To Me?

Do I just need to fax them my authorization to release information signed by the seller? Or do I also need to have a purchase agreement signed for the amount I want to offer? I read this and thought it was strange since that price would probably need to be negotiated with the bank not the seller.

yeah, fax them the authorization and you're off and running. actually i get the seller on 3-way and after they vouch for me, they can hang up.

For a third party to speak with a mortgagee, the mortgagee must receive written authorization from the mortgagor.

To negotiate a short sale, the mortgagor must request, and complete an application for short sale consideration.

A completed application can vary from lender to lender... but most will require mortgagor's full financial disclosure, property/market data, a signed Contract for Sale, and a HUD1.
