How Do You Find Foreclosure/pre-foreclosures?
Just wondering. I'd like to try and get to people before foreclosure. I live in the NE and feel like there is nothing around. I know this can't be the case, but my neighbor put up her house on Thursday Sept. 23 and got her asking price today (Monday the 27th). Any info you can give me would be helpful. Do I go to the town hall, stalk homeowners? what?
Thanks for your help
I don't know about NE but in OH, I subscribe to the County Legal Newspapers. That tells me what houses are being foreclosed on and then you have to become a detective and reach the homeowner.
Hope this helps.
Justin:
Here's a few ideas:
1. Courthouse--go down and ask them how to search public records (usually for free). Look for either judgements or lis pendens (the notice of a lawsuit being file).
2. Check out a law bulletin: see if there is a legal or law bulletin published for your area. There's one that comes out weekly here that lists judgements/foreclosure/lis pendens suits.
3. Find out if the county has internet access to the public records (mine does, for a fee). You can then do the search in your underwear (not too good an idea to do down at the courthouse...).
4. Buy a subscription to a data service that collects public record info (I just did a Google search for Rockland County New York public records and found a couple). I started doing this last month for my county because they email me the list every week which saved me a lot of time digging and copying/pasting to make a mailing list.
Best of luck!
Andy
Excellent, I'll look into it. Thanks a lot.
Dede, where can I find info on the county legal bulletins? I am in Stark County.
