How Do I Get Started Repairing My Credit Myself
Hello Folks,
How do I get started repairing my Credit? I know I have to get the 3 reports. Then start paying my chargeoffs, collections, etc. I saw on a post where you should dispute all bad things anyway. Is that right. Also where can I get an attempt to settle template? Also the template for having them remove the report after I pay? Thanks in Advance. Steve
Obviously you should take care of your obligations and not repeat the past mistakes.
That said, You can write a letter to each of the reporting agencies contesting whatever deficiency is in your report. The perosn that put it in there has 30 days to respond. IF they don't respond then the credit agency has to remove it. So contest everything and see what you end up with, then go from there.

go get software at your local store that sells computer software and instructions that work for pennies of the cost of having help.
I help my customers repair what they can with my purchase software instructions, if they are serious about it they do it if not they move one. It is in my best interest if they do.
What is the name of the Credit repair software? And at what store can I buy it? Thanks everyone
If you want to repair your credit then the first thing you need to do is to forget credit repair tricks and message boards or forums that advocate that kind of stuff.
You need to work with your creditors and their collectors in order to get the job done right.
Fixing your credit is like sticking your head in the sand because even though you get them off your credit reports they still can and very well might sue you and then you have a judgment you will have to get voided and that is a bit expensive Better to approach the problem from the right viewpoint to start off with.
You should never pay a delinquent account unless you can get a contractual agreement
such as the Westcap endorsement which creates a contractual agreement under which they must remove the item from your credit reports within 10 days or be liable for
a lawsuit for breach of contract.
That works sometimes and sometimes it don't but its well worth the effort to try it out.
There are lots of ways to get your problems straightened out but simply paying them off isn't one of them. That will hurt you as much or more than it will help you by a long ways.
Hi Stebo,
Stockpro99 is right about the 30 days. Send a copy of the credit report and highlight the disputed ones along with your letter. Also, make sure you send it by certified mail for your records.
Regarding the template. Sometimes if you on the search engine and just type in certain words (FREE, credit, forms, letters, etc.) you would find websites that have them. Make sure you type in the word FREE, though. You'd be surprised at all the free stuff that is out there.
