What do you mean how do you do real estate?

Before someone goes off on you for asking a broad question, ask what avenues you are interested in and be more specific.

Thats like asking how do you do cars.

    How do you do horses?

    How do you do stocks?

Broad....very broad question and it needs to be narrowed.

LOL, I'm also a complete beginner in REI. But I'll have to agree with Nebulousd... that was a really broad question. Are you looking into buying, selling, L/O, etc? Being more specific with questions might help you to get more specific answers.

Chuck, what are your expectations? Do you really expect to get rich overnight? If you believe that, then I suggest you go out and purchase one of those videos or audio tapes that promise you ways to get rich quick but really don't work. But if you're like most of us, then you should realize that nothing is a sure guarantee. Like with any field or profession, there's going to be a learning curve before you can start making your "big bucks". Be patient and read through this site as well as others, books, articles, etc. I'm sure with a little of your time invested in researching REI, you'll find alot of useful information that may help to answer some of your questions and if indeed this field is what you're interested in . Best of luck.

  • chuck19332nd December, 2003

    Huh?

  • fauche652nd December, 2003

Just give me your money and I will invest it for you. I would sign a contract with you, but you don't need one since you don't like to read. I would give you a great ROI!!

  • nebulousd2nd December, 2003

What everyone is saying is you have to want it....i know, your probably saying I do.

Well prove it to yourself. You have to figure out what you options are, there are many ways to "do real estate"...you need to figure out which path you want to go down.

Then once you realize which way to invest in real estate, go out and learn how to do it. via books, home study courses, mentors, birddogging...

I don't think too many people can give you the answer your looking for....but like I said, buy low and sell high.

  • chuck19332nd December, 2003

    What do you mean?

  • nebulousd2nd December, 2003

okay you got me, i'm the idiot. good one.

    but answer me this,
how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

  • chuck19332nd December, 2003

    One 4x8, One 2x4, and a toothpick

  • hibby762nd December, 2003

Either Chuck is having some fun with us and the joke is now old, or he is never going to succeed in real estate because he wants to be told what to do every step of the way, in which case I would say go out and get a job, preferably one with lots of training.

If you want RE, become a realtor or loan officer for a while.

RE is all about being a problem solver, being creative, putting buyers and sellers together creativly, and seeing what other people don't see.

The nuts and bols of RE will be explained on this site, but not this post.

  • Lufos2nd December, 2003

    Dear Chuck 1933,

Obviously that is not the date of your birth. But I can understand your situation.

I used to have a girlfriend who had the same problem but she solved it very simply. She just went to school and learned to read and write. Of course she stopped dating me.

If you funnin, great, if you are serious contact me off line. I will teach you the cats cradle and from there after answering some even more stupid questions we will get you off and running. No not up to the doors of houses, wait a bit. first I got to get you to the point of getting the basics.

    Example:

This is a house, it has a roof, the roof has fallen off the house what state is it in? No not disrepair!

This is a garage it is designed for one car to be inside. It has three inside, now quick what state is it in?

This is a mule, It had a pretty mommy but a real jackass for a father. Now once again what state is it in?

If your answer was California to all of the above you are entitled to the Lucius Foster Scolarship. **Please See My Profile**

You are patient number 7 hang on to that number. I know I know, One hand all fingers other hand only two.

    Cheers Lucius

ok chuck here is the first step for you to DO real estate:

    1. Live on this site, particularly this forum for 1 month.

Comback after 1 month and tell us what you have learned.

Educating yourself is the best way to learn, but you need motivation to do it. This is a good starting point!!
    Get Started

  • sharpREI_PA2nd December, 2003

ha,ha,ha....ok, chuck! I seen your other posts on other topics on this site, and you sound pretty knowledgable to me

Good one...you fooled me. I should have done my homework on you first

    Chris

  • Lufos2nd December, 2003

    Sharp Re

It is considered very bad form to look at a clients posting prior to treatment.

Of course he is knowledgable but we have to look past that. The attempt at humor is a good sign. the failure to achieve it an even better one.

The juxstposition of toothpick to 2 by 4 is of course pivotable to recovery.

Now if he takes the License for Qualified Real Estate Investor he will be in full remission.

    Cheers. Lucius

    Hi Chuck1933~
I'm a newcomer to REI/Real Estate Investing also. And yes, the reading from this site can be overwhelming. Since real estate is very broad, it is best to figure out which are of real estate investing you would like to specialize in...It's short of like a doctor...The medical field is a very broad industry...therefore, a doctor must choose a specialized area that he/she would like to practice...So, it's the same with Real Estate...
From what I'm learning one must be he real estate game.
I would recommend reading "Secrets of a millionaire real estate investor" by Robert Shemin. The book cost just under $20. You can go to your local book store...Barnes & Noble, etc.
Continue using this site as a tool. Read the forums and the articles and continue to ask questions. This is good start. If you have a friend/s or relative/s with $$$ and who are willing to help you get started, that's all fine too.
When asking questions you must be more specific.
    Good luck!
    Peace & Blessings
    JB

Wooden Giraffes are out. Buffaloes are in. Buffaloes are the "new Giraffe". The big money is in Buffaloes.

Looking through this it occured to me that perhaps this person was putting us on asking "how do I do real estate?" I really can't believe that a junior investor asked a question like that. This is a serious forum for people who are really here to learn, not play games.

I come here for motivation, inspiration and knowledge as do most of the people here. Please refrain from using these boards as some place to perform your childish antics.

Thanks for respecting those who come here for more than fun and games.
