How Did You Start Mailing?

I plan on mailing out to absentee owners and was wondering how a lot of you started direct mailing. Did you type the letter on the computer and then hand write all the addresses? Did you print the addresses on the envelopes? Did you actually spend 37 cents per envelope or is there a way to get a discount for sending x amount. confused

    Spend the 37 cents. Materials you will need

    1 piece of white paper
    Yellow pads
    Felt tip pen
    Copier
    White envelopes
    Rubber stamp
    37 cent stamps
    Mailing list

    What you do

    Step 1 On a plain sheet of paper, using a yellow pad underneath, you stay on the lines this way, write a letter to the type of subject you’re mailing. This is one of 5 sample letters we mail to NODs . Keep in mind its hand written

    Hi

    You probably have had a lot of people contact you about your home. Before you make the wrong decision and sell it to someone you don’t know please give me a call . I look forward to talking to you.

    Note I use different names for different letter types. So when I get a Mary call I know it’s a foreclosure and so on.

    Step 2 on the yellow pad paper copy your letter using a copier.

    Step 3 The same person who hand wrote the letter fills out the first name of the person mailing to.

    Step 4 same person Addresses the envelope using the same handwriting.

    Step 5 Address the return address No name just your return address. This is what I use the rubber stamp for. You can have a handwritten return address stamp made.

    Step 6 put 37-cent stamp on it.

    The whole idea is to get it opened. And a yellow pad letter in a white hand addressed envelope will get read.

    BTW use the same pen that you used to make the copies to fill-in the name of the recipient.

    The other four letters are very similar in what they say, they do however build on the last letter.

    I want to remind them that they have gotten my letters in the past. Past being 3 days earlier.

    As for professionalism.. a yellow handwritten letter in a white envelope gets read. As long as the message is short and to the point, no more than 4 lines of text, people will respond.

    As for handwritten remember they are copied not individually handwritten. That would take for ever.

    On post cards always use bulk mail. Bulk mail is easy to use just buy a permit from the postoffice. As long as you send out at least 150 pieces to the same zip you will save 16 cents which will allow you to send out almost twice as much mail.

    But put a 37c stamp on all letters... Remember grandma doessnt have a Pitney Bowes machine.

    And Hand address all envelopes. Dont even try to use a handwritting font.. The person who ansers my telephone address all of my mail.

    1) If this fits within your budget and time consraints, it is always preferred to handwrite the address on the envelope. Your open rate with be higher this way. It is not necessary on a postcard as it does not need to be "opened".

    2) If the letter is handwritten, then handwrite the name. If the letter is typed, then type the name. The idea is that it needs to match.

    3) As stated, bulk works well for a postcard campaign if you are sending enough. If you are sending a letter, always use a live stamp (the lick and stick it kind)
