Help Just Recieved Letter Tax Lien On My Property

I just recieved a letter stating that there is a tax lien on the property that I purchased 4 mo ago and I looked in the land records to find the lien today 11/8 and didn't find any liens the letter is dated 10/24 if there is a tax lien shouldn't it be on the land records, I can't get a hold ot the county intell Monday.
Can anyone help me on this

    Notify your Title company that handled the settlement. If they overlooked the taxes at the time of settlement, they will have to pay them for you out of their pocket. That is why we buy title insurance. They should have prorated the taxes and paid your portion as well as the seller's portion. They should have this cleared up quickly. Usually in about 10 days.

    Thank you for the reply, I am going to the bar to talk to the guy I purchased it from and I will get a hold of the title company.
    But I do Have 1 more question why isn't the lien on the land records, shouldn't it be there?

    i suspect that he didnt use a title company....in my location county records only houses mortgage, deeds, judgements and federal tax lien info...i would have to go to the tax receivers office to check on current years taxes or the county treasurers office for taxes more than 1 year in arrears. your county maybe similar.[ Edited by lp1 on Date 11/08/2003 ]
