Help In Disputing Items
Hi guys. I have been working on my credit for the last 10 months. I am almost successfull in completing my journey. However, I am having a hard time removing 2 charged-off credit card items that have been paid. Also, I am in the process of disputing my bankcupties. Can anyone give me some tips to successfully renove these items?
Start with fixing all of your personal information including addresses, name or variations of names, date of birth, variation of social security numbers. Then move onto bureau disputes, then if that comes back verified, dispute directly with the creditors. Make sure that you clean up all of your addresses before you dispute the bankruptcy. Never send in your bankruptcy papers in any disputes. They will hold it against you when you dispute the entire bankruptcy. [ Edited by Mario11779 on Date 10/05/2004 ]
You may not be able to get paid charge-offs removed from your report. As far as I know, the company isn't required to remove them even if you have paid them. You can write to them and ask them to remove the listing, but don't hold your breath. Honestly, you may just have to wait. In time, they will come off the report. I believe the company can report the charge-off for seven years. In the case of credit, time heals all wounds. Good luck!
If a CO doesn't come off, you have three options:
1. Goodwill letter to whoever has it on there (apology, sob story, plea for help).
2. Nutcase leter to them (letter that makes it look like you're a crank who's ready to sue over some imaginary [but plausible] fault of theirs by which they keep reporting the CO).
3. Periodic (say quarterly) disputes to the CRAs as "not mine" or with some other part of the TL alleged to be erroneous ... rotate your grounds for complaint like crops until the TL comes off.
