Heir Is Looking For Advice On Redeeming Tax Property

I recently inherited a several houses from a relative in Greenville Tx. But they were sold just last year in a tax auction. I know in Texas, an heir has up to 2 years to redeem them. And I dont have a clue how to get them back. Willing to work with an investor to split the cost and profit if they can help.

I just know i have to pay the back taxes, interest, and any upgrades the owner put into the house. And i dont even own a pot to #%@@ in. So i have to move QUICK.[ Edited by jason023 on Date 11/14/2004 ]

First, did you check to see if the properties were worth redeeming?
Also, have you considered talking to the person with the tax lien? Maybe they would recompense you for a quit claim deed as that would make it easier and cheaper for them to get title insurance and such

Thanks for responding so quickly. No i haven't met the owner of the property yet. I wanted to make sure I'm ready and in position to take the property back. Some of the properties are worth looking into. Some of them are not.

Are you sure? There is a two year right of redemption on only three types of properties in TX after the tax sale, as far as I know:
    --homesteaded
    --agricultural
    --mineral rights.

All the others are 6 months.

Are you sure you have the right of redemption for 2 years.

I know a lot about real estate and tax sales. I bought one tax sale house in Waco. It was redeemed from me. I have a dozen houses in OK state that I have bought at tax resales.

I have a property in escrow to sell and am looking for some good long-term rental properties, so it might make sense for us to work together on this.
