Has Anyone Ever Moved A House?
I have a house sitting on steel beams that a professional house mover moved for me. He says It will be level and fine if I moved to another lot. Does anyone have any feed back on this??? It costs 25000 to move so I want to be sure it's worth it. Do you think if I have a foundation built, the house will be as good as new? All Feedback greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
Good Day to you:
It will not be as good as new without some $$$ spent. The walls will tweek and plaster or drywall will crack. Door jams may not be sq. once moved. Good news though, I've done one, moved it 8 miles and set it up on a hillside on a new foundation/basement. New windows, needed anyway, and doors with jams and some patching, updating etc, it was better than before it was plucked up out of it's spot. I bought a 2500 sq ft home for 10,000 moved it for 15,000, 20,000 for a lot and spent 40,000 on stuff and now have a home that appraised at @ 175,000. So it could be a deal depending.....
Good Luck and make $$$$

I'm sorry but I have to ask... what kind of circumstance would require you to move the same house twice? You can ignore the question if you'd like.... :-?
Mubar, sometimes people buy houses that have to be moved, then sell them to other people. For example, if a highway is going to be four-laned, the county buys the houses, then auctions them off to investor types. People specialize in buying them, then they'll resale them to other people. Just one example I could think of...
Moving a home is no problem. 25k seems a bit high though. As long as you have experienced folks, you should be ok. With a good foundation, leveling is pretty simple. Plumbing needs a good checkup after moved! As long as your numbers work out it can be a great deal.
