Hang 'em HIGH?

Hello,

For bandit signs, how HIGH do you hang 'em on telephone poles?

High enough so kids can't take 'em down?

High enough so sign nazis can't easily get to 'em?

NOT so high that people can't see 'em?

How do you get up there? I would think setting up a ladder might attract unwanted attention.

What are your experiences?

Thanks in advance,

...but low enough to read 'em and catch attention, right?

    Does anyone do this?

Whats the average height of a teen age hoodlum? about 5'5"? A person is only about 3 feet off the ground. 6 and a half 7 feet is how high I usually see them

I'm thinking of a short 3-foot high step stool that is quick and easy to set up and break down in order to minimize the attention that I attract while doing it.

I made a long hammer out of three inch heavy wall pvc. It is three feet long and has a 90 degree fitting on the end. Inside the 90 degree fitting is a nipplle which is threaded on one end to allow a galvanized iron cap to be screwed on to become the hammer face. The bottom of the hammer has a pvc cap which is NOT glued on so I can pull out a 34 inch long piece of one inch pvc pipe, which I cut a slot into so I can hold the sign. Place two sheetrock screws into the sign, slip the sign into the grooved end and hold up the sign holder while hammering the nails into the telephone pole. To make the sign last longer, use small fender washers between the nails and the sign This will increase the surface area and keep you from driving the nail through the sign while adding more wind resistance. Has anyone ever had code enforcement types (sign cops) come after them with a vendetta for making it extra difficult?

Just a thought, but it seems to me if Joe Sign-taker dealt with 40 different offenders today throughout town, he'd remember you for making his life more difficult, and might take the extra step or two to keep you in line. I may be off-base. Any thoughts?
