  You are all wasting your time! Believe me I wasted plenty of mine. Save your money, buy a book, and talk to everyone you can. You will be very suprised at how you come up with money when you get really motivated. Again you can believe me because I am in the same boat you are. I found out that a co-worker was quite wealthy just by chance. It turns out he is really interested in what I do I is willing to front the down payment for me on this first one. Depending on how things go he said he will be happy to start financing my projects. Just be creative and persistant. There is no such thing as FREE MONEY!!

  I actually do know someone who owns a dog grooming business and they were able to obtain a grant for $10,000 for equipment and supplies or whatever else she needed to get her business running. So, it does happen.
  But, this person also had to wait over 6 months before they even heard from them, which in my opinion is too long when it comes to REI. So, in the end , it probably is not worth the hassle especially when there are other ways to get capital, as killenjw points out. thanks again!
