Good Voicemail Script?

Any ideas for answering machine message when people call your "we buy houses" sign? What have you used with success in the past?

I have had elaborate voicemails with multiple mailboxes and I think the best thing that works is keeping it simple:

Thank you for calling "companyname", we appreciate your call. If you are calling to find out more about out buying houses program, please leave your name, number, and address of the property you are interested in selling. Remember, we cannot get back in touch with you without a phone number. Thank you and have a great day

I always say the phone number part twice as people forget to leave it and you can't call them back.

I agree with Ray. My message is very similar. "Thank you for calling "company name". We Buy Houses and close fast. Please leave your name, phone number, and a convenient time to call you back. We will return your call as fast as possible."

From experience pepole don't like to leave messages. Do yourself a huge favor and get call forwarding. You will be surprised just how much you are missing!

John have you considered a live operator system to take the calls and ask a series of questions that you provide, thus screening out non-motivated sellers or buyers that dont fit your program? I know a couple folks in your area (Gwinnett) that use this system and they really like it. Just a thought.

Suntzu18 is right. We've been using a combo voicemail/live operator system for screening out non-motivated sellers and it works great. It's like working on autopilot. I receive messages by email that include all the information we need to know.

There are many companies out there that can set you up with this type of service and they'll even help out with the script. Based on a recommendation from John Adams, we went with a local company called Voice-plus.
