Getting Started In Chicago
Okay, after thinking about it off and on for the last year, as of last Thursday I made the decision to move forward with buying old, abandoned, bank repo'd, etc homes, fixing them up and seling them off for profit.
Obviously that is an oversimplification, but you get the point of what I am getting at.
So, at this point, I am a long way from actually putting a bid on a property and everything, but I just wanted to get a feel for what to focus on as I begin my own little business.
I am already looking at property's to possibly bid on, just to get a feel for what's out there. I am getting in contact with some banks this week to look into loan options. I don't want to do anything big on my first property, just something to make a nice profit off of, and build my momentum off of that.
I am getting a lot of info off this website so far, but hey, I figured anything extra you guys can tell me directly, all the better.
South Holland. I've been there.
Anyway, you should pm Mark Reynold (commercialking). He lives in Chicago and I'll bet if you talk to him real nice, he'll take you on his sail boat, talk real estate all for the price of a couple of deli sandwiches from Dominicks. I'm serious. I come to Chicago twice in the last couple of months, and each time Mark is more than willing to spend and evening with me and talk real estate. (Last night Mark and I had a great dinner at the Pegasus in Greek town and talked RE and Chicago architecture) for 4 hours. Thanks Mark!!!
You might even be able to catch one of his new Real Estate Investing courses he's teaching on the north side.
HTH,
Robert
